Good advice. I do this with freshwater drum. The only difference is I fillet the drum, but leave the skin and scales on. This makes for a tough bait that the little nibblers have a hard time getting off. If you don't want to spring for a big bag of pool salt, ice cream salt works fine.

Been using canning salt for the same thing for years, Pool salt is much cheaper and I will get some.
