Fished with Doc yesterday from 8:30 til 7:30. Odd day, but a good one. We saw 3 different purple bass boats, dropped a rod & reel combo in the lake & almost took a swim. We did recover the rod & reel with Docs expertise...seems he may have done this before smile . Was a pretty windy day off & on & had a few sprinkles...but that makes a good light situation for video. We ended the day with 75 fish total...1 catfish, around 30 bass & 45 bluegill. The sunfish bite is starting to pick up, but we only had luck in one area & most of the fish were small with a few good ones mixed in. Not a "Laker" kind of day, but a good start. All fish caught of Gulp Alive or variations with maggots or BOC attached. All fish released to fight another day... FCL 4-5-21

Scott...10 - 12 mph is pretty much my limit with the winds...Good luck on Friday.

Chuck...I forgot to mention that the water temp was still 68-73 degrees & the lake is now closer to full pool. On Monday it was at 390.2 mean sea level, so it could still come up some. Full pool is 391 MSL.
The water temp is lagging way behind previous years. Last year on 4/7/20 the water temp was 75-78 degrees.

Thanks Leo & Rick for the replies...

Steve, great video as always. It looks like you were really putting it on Chris. Or you just cut him out of most of the fish catching haha. Anyway Im going tomorrow. Hope to do as well as you guys.

Hey Tom

Not really. Steve just is better at catching bass than me. lol ! That and keeping me from falling out of the boat. grin
I'm glad I could give him some payback by fishing his high dollar perch rig out of the lake !

Vogey. I forget to ask. Did the freeze kill off any of the reed beds? hmmm

Curtis...The freeze of 2021 did a number on the reed beds...They looked like they were dead as a doornail in Feb., but the good news is that they are all coming back strong & growing like crazy...

Thanks Steve. Also great that the reeds are making a strong comeback after the freeze. thumb

That is good news. I know form the few past trips I have made to Fayette that I had always caught a bunch of nice fish hanging by the reeds. woot

Side Note: There are several other places that I know you are aware of, that the big ones love to hangout as well. coolio
