Can anyone tell me whether I need to get a four wheel vehicle to pull a 21 foot nitro bass boat? Thanks

Balance? Seriously though, 4wd is not a must but the first time you need it and don't have you will rue the day you didn't splurge for that option.

You donโt need it to tow that boat. Now, getting up some slippery ramps might be another situation

Unless you are launching off the bank 2 wheel is all you need.

2 wheel is all you need for boat-pulling. 4 wheel drive sure is nice to have on many other occasions though.

Unless you are launching off the bank 2 wheel is all you need. I can't tell you how many times I have seen folks with 2 wheel drive slipping and spinning trying to pull their boat up a slick ramp. I was one of them on occasion and will not have another truck that is not a 4 wheel drive. It was down right embarrassing to have to ask for several folks to climb in the bed of the truck to help me get up the ramp. The problem with a 2 wheel drive is, that unless you have a Locker type of rear end, only 1 wheel will be trying to grab. This usually ends up with the wheel without traction spinning. I know how to drive.

Yeah, you gotta apply the brakes a bit to make it grip good. I had nothing but 2WD until my last truck and I have never once slipped up a ramp after I learned how to do it.

The Ford electric rear locker is available on 2wd. All you'd need on a ramp. But 4wd is nice for the occasional snow or ice storm.

Only 2 times have I needed 4wd on a ramp. Once was pulling a large closed bow (not mine) up the ramp at Island View and another was steep ramp at Travis. I had a 2wd F150 with limited slip and pulled neighbors Misty Harbor up a steep ramp on Texoma. Did not even spin a tire. I have a 4wd primarily for hunting but it can come in handy at times with my heavy boat.
