9100$ 35 year architectural shingles, and replacing two roof turbines. ~1900 sq ft. home.
Also is it worth the extra cost to spring for an upgrade to Class 4 shingles?

A lot cheaper than my roof was 2 years ago. In my neck of the woods...errrr desert, we look at wind ratings. Lighter shingles tend to take flight.

How many squares is it and what manufacture and style of shingle are they quoting? I can tell you if that’s about right or not. Lots of variables though to a roof. 1900 sq foot home doesn’t tell me how many squares it is. That’s the magic number

I mean if you have a composite shingle now and he’s quoting a 3 tab for that then you’re getting hosed and or if he’s quoting a crappy shingle like Tamko or something like that

hmm ok I'll try to get the answers for you all. Our home was built in 2004, we moved in 2009, and the roof has never been changed, there is nothing wrong with it per se, just old and worn out with spotty hail damage, and one of our roof turbines is rattling like mad. The shingles on it now are what the guy called "cheap builder's shingles" certainly installed in mass when they built our sub-division.
Our deductible is 3000, so I guess the insurance will pay the rest if we go with this guy, or if the insurance even pays at all.
Also it looks like Joel is in Austin, would he / you come to Johnson County?

Always get more than 1 estimate. I got 3 when I had our roof replaced. There was a wide range of prices they gave for the same shingles, but the main difference was in vents and changes they thought they needed to make.
May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

Have you gotten the estimate back from your carrier yet? Don't assume they'll pay anything until you know for sure. That estimate will also have the squares going back on the roof.
As for a class 4 shingle, see what kind of discount you'll get and figure out the amount you're going to save and see how that compares to the cost difference between that and the 30yr. If you're only going to save $200 a year and it's a $1500 difference, meh. If it'd pay off in 3 or less years I'd consider it. Also, some carriers will start at a higher percentage savings then taper off after a few years.
For what it's worth TAMKO while usually towards the bottom price range, warranties their 30yr and better shingles for life against mfg defects. We've had several warranty claims with their 3tab shingles and as long as they're nailed right and have plenty of attic ventilation, they've paid for FULL replacements with no questions, even for roofs out of the warranty period. Can not say that for Malarkey or CertainTeed.

Also is it worth the extra cost to spring for an upgrade to Class 4 shingles? 35 year shingles?? In North Texas no reason to pay for that upgrade. Hail will get you on 15 year average.
