I bought one from BBC Marine and another from Fun and Sun in Hurst. 2999.00 plus taxes at F & S, maybe 200.00 less at BBC but I did not have the time to order one. If I had a dislike it would be the programable keys, accidentally hitting the on key can throw you out of the boat, fairly sure it can be reprogrammed.

So you had it wired for 36V but the motor was in set in 24V mode? I'm surprised you didn't damage it. They say don't do that!

I thought it was an automatic switch, if it detects 36v it switches.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! There is nothing "automatic" about it. There's other misinformation out there also. I saw an alleged "expert" on a video recently say something like "easy as pushing some buttons" and that's wrong also. The Installation manual doesn't say it is "automatic" or that ONLY programming the voltage is required. The manual shows how to wire batteries for the desired voltage (24V or 36V), THEN a couple pages later how to program the TM for that wired voltage.

There is a note: "An incorrect voltage setting will not damage the trolling motor." So, if you can set it wrong, it must not be "automatic."

BTW, Lowrance states that the maximum thrust is 97 pounds for a 24V system, and 120 pounds for a 36V system. Besides the increase in maximum thrust, the advantage of 36V is that you have stored energy in three batteries available to use vs. stored energy in two batteries. Comparing apples to apples batteries and run time/speed, you always get more functional hours from a 36V system. Batteries are essentially fuel tanks for electricity.

I run a Legend V20 with a Ghost.

I do have lithium's now and run it on 36V, but when I first got it I ran it on 24V with lead batteries and it did just fine.

I ran mine fishing tournaments on two lead acid batteries for quite a while, the batteries were old and finally gave up, swapped them with AGM group 31s 100Ah and I have not had an issue fishing all day, even the days where I barely stop the trolling motor in the wind, they have not gone out on me. We normally fish from 6am to 3:30pm just for reference. I have not come to a point where I felt I needed a third battery on it, I'm sure there are some out there that could kill my system but with the way that I fish I have not come close to killing the batteries except when they went bad.

ORDERED AND ON THE WAY!!! Excited. It has quite a few more features than I was aware of after doing some research on them. Like anything, some people will love em, and some people will hate em. Hoping I love it! New electronics, new TM, new batteries. Can't wait to put em all in!!

I cannot imagine someone hating the ghost.
