Hello,

I will be heading to Lake Texoma (from Colorado) on the first week of June with a group of 8. We will be renting out a pontoon near Eisenhower State Park as well as fishing from shore. We would get a guide but it was out of the budget. Any hints to get on stripers during that time?

I appreciate any advice, thanks.

My best guess is that your rental is not going to be equipped with a good sonar unit. Therefore, my advice would be to follow the birds and other boats.
It's ok to potlick, just be respectful in doing so.

Check back on here as your trip gets closer. Your trip might be a little early for this, but the stripers will start schooling at first light down by the dam boat launch and work west along the south shoreline down to and past Eisenhower. It will be a circus, but can be good topwater action.

If you’re coming first week of June, look for birds and bait up against the rocks between Eisenhower and Rocky point. The Topwater fishing can be outstanding while the Shad are spawning.....usually starts end of April and sometimes lasts into June. At sunrise, Look for birds leap-frogging down the bank chasing schools of shad...and the stripers won’t be far away. If you’re lucky, you’ll find them in the back of a creek or cove and the stripers start blowing UP!

If you don’t get em on top early, you can hit those points with plastics and do pretty good. Not to mention, you’ll prolly find a good smallie or two mixed in.

I’m not great at checking this, but PM me when it gets closer to your trip and I’ll let ya know what’s been happening.

Anyone can catch a lot of fish when they're hungry . . . . My favorite days are the ones where the fish don't want to eat, but I make 'em do it anyway.
