Simple question, I'm planning to mount one of these as a bow mount graph.. I have one at the dash. Just wondering for those that have these if they've ever had any issue with unit itself coming dismounted off the bow when running choppy water? I don't have issues with the one at the console but the console is a different ride than the bow!! This type of mount is the one I speak of.
It won't ever come loose if you "click" it in correctly. I had the 93sv slide across the deck and into the floor. I figured out how to do it right after that.
I almost lost a 93sv once on lake tawakoni in the rough water so I put a small buggie around it and never had another problem
Exactly my thoughts to be honest... I love Garmin and the 74sv on my console is awesome, but I'm not a fan of the way these units sit in the mount.. It just seems to me that cheap plastic mount is a ticket to having a graph on the bottom of the lake
Any of y'all have one on a RAM mount? Never have used a Ram mount before... To give a little more info, I'm trying to install the unit to make it easy to remove when I'm on the bays. After some reading I see that the ram mount may be a good solution for that
Mine is on a ram mount on the bow, works great. Make sure as said above that it clicks into the cradle! I did not get mine fully clicked in and it luckily bounced out onto the front deck. It was not the mount it was my bad. It has never happened again and I have had mine for 5 or 6 years.
have a 73 on the front, locks down in the cradle fine no problem, have a 93 next to the console and it fits loose, has popped off twice running...I put some several pieces of heavy duty Velcro on the unit and the cradle and then ran another non sticky back across the Velcros and no more problems...
Don't take it in and out every trip and it won't be a problem, I detach mine at the balz out mount to take it off the boat. I love Garmins interface but the cradle was a stupid idea and bad engineering, it can get loose and the contacts can get corroded and the graph lose power/not want to come on.

Couldn’t have said it better.... those cables in the back are a joke. I’m having problems with the plugs on my console unit wiggling out. Not sure why.

Same here. Rough, pounding waves will jar it loose. Have had mine land in my lap a couple times. Have bought silicone bands to strap it in.
I have 3 93SV's and haven't had any of them come lose. A fun little fact though, Garmin designed them to float. The one or two guys I read about that lost them overboard just drove back, grabbed them and hooked them up and they worked fine.
