I didn't see anywhere in the op where he asked for opinions on whether steak needs sauce or not.

Getting ready to fire up the RecTeq and do a reverse sear. Ruined with that A1 garbage! Learn how to grill a steak!! The Best Steak that I have had was not Grilled, but cooked in a Skillet!! and the only time that I didn't use any A-1

Cook a steak proper like this! Notice grill marks and proper doneness! If you put sauce on that there’s no helping you!! This looks absolutely perfect . . . perfect I say !!!!!!!
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I didn't see anywhere in the op where he asked for opinions on whether steak needs sauce or not. He didn't. The pretend steak snobs just like to say the same thing over and over.
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

I'm in the "if it's cooked right you shouldn't need steak sauce" crowd but to say I don't like A1 on a steak would be a lie.
What about horseradish, I see folks ask for it all the time, and nobody bats an eye, but is it really any different?

Every once in a while, I smother my steak in brown gravy and mushrooms.

This thread reminds me, wife put a couple ribeyes in the fridge to thaw. May be grilling day.
Growing up, my dad used to always marinate the steaks in Italian dressing before grilling. Not me. If a steak needs a little flavoring, I just throw on a few mesquite or hickory smoke chips in with the charcoal. I will use the ketchup on tube steak or A-1 on ground chuck, but nothing on slab steaks. Chicken Fried Steak is about the only exception, got to have the pepper gravy on that.
May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

For less desirable cuts of steak i will use A-1 on occasion, normally because it was over cooked or hamburger steak. +1.....
