Never used the canned ultra expensive stuff. All my stuff does very well on 10% ethanol gasoline with seafoam added periodically. If my gas might be stored for months then it gets the Star-tron + Seafoam. Usually this is gas I buy for hurricane season and amounts to about 40-50 gallons.

Most of the running issues with small engines is fuel/carburetor issues. My son the mechanic will jerk a carb off, clean it up and 90% of the time things are fixed. I have a dozen, at least, small engine critters around the farm.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I run whatever comes out of the pumps, mine do well. I keep air filter clean and I'm careful with oil mix on my weed eaters, blowers and trimmers. My stuff gets used alot and I think that helps. I weed eater like an echo is only a couple hundred bucks. Running 20 dollar a gallon fuel in it to try and get a little more life doesnt make sense to me. Mine last 7 or 8 years of hard use with very little care.

Buc-ee's non-ethanol fuel and I've also used as mentioned earlier, Avgas from local private airport.

I agree with WAWI, I run my stuff hard and regular and just use plain ol' pump gas. Just keep the filters clean and run proper oil mix ratio and the fire off every time. The amount of money I would waste on can gas I could buy a new weedeater every year.

One of the best things you can do for your small engines is to dump the old gas remaining in the tank and fill using fresh non-ethanol. The fact that your small engines seem to be running better on old gas is a fluke or your imagination. Small engines are finicky. If you want them to last, fire them up during the off-season and don't run old fuel.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

I use Stihl in my weedeater too. Mines the multi attachment and I only use about a gallon a year so the cost isn't a big deal.

Same. Seems like it actually runs better...almost like 7-11 gas needs to be decantered and let breath a little before the mower consumes it.

Same, I run 91 octane with Stabil. I think the mower is 13 yo. Honda. Changed oil once. Still runs like new.
