Power pole micro anchor, worth the investment? Thinking about it for a Ascend 12t

In my opinion, they are not worth it in most DFW area lakes... 80% of the year, the fish are in deep to deepish water.

I bought a push pole for the spring spawn bite and only used it a couple of days. For me, it was a waste of money.

I can see a power pole being very useful in the flats (salt) or river/stream fishing. Neither of these currently apply to me.

Just my two cents.

I'm a fan of tools that can make life easier. That said I can't imagine dropping $700 on an anchor on any kayak regardless of the value of the kayak. As Mike mentioned they're more useful in the flats. I fish the flats a lot and I keep a 5 lb dumbell right behind my seat. When I need to stop I reach around with one hand and ease the anchor in the water. I probably have half dozen stake out sticks (DIY's) and they mostly collect dust. The dumbell anchor is so easy to use for me.

This^^^.....People keep trying to overthink what is needed to anchor a kayak. Dumbells are cheap and you can buy several for the price of those mushroom style anchors and the dumbell anchor doesn't hang up as bad.

and the dumbell will come back clean. I had a mushroom anchor in my bass boat and it often came back filled with sticky mud. I then found 4 selections of massive chain at a yard sale (weighted more than 10 pounds, I paid $2 for it)... I started using this as my anchor and it came back clean every time. The chain would slip a little at times, but this allowed me to cover more water as the wind dragged the chain a little.

Back in Missouri, we would use 7-pound window weights to anchor jon-boats. Back in my rehabbing days, I tossed a hundred window weights in the dumpster. I could probably sell them for $5 a piece now. LOL.

I have seen cases where they were very useful. I went on an inshore trip in south Carolina and the guy I went with had one. He could anchor quick and get free quick. I was busy pulling up anchor line.
