Looks like we are joining the travel trailer family. Wife wanted one while we undergo our re-model. I kept my mouth shut hoping the urge would go away. And everyone she found they’d be sold in short amount of time before we could look at them and possibly make a decision. However, she found this one in Montgomery so I have to travel to Houston and pick it up. I told her this is all her so she found it and she needs to negotiate the deal. I’ll be damn if she didn’t secure 3k off what the guy was asking and having him throw in a bunch of stuff. Here goes nothing as they say. Funny, he could actually be a forum member I wouldn’t know. If you are John, I’ll see you Thursday.

Congrats, but I will not be showing this to the wife, lol. She also wants one and wishes I would have bought this instead of the boat. I have to explain that I use the boat 3 times at least a week. The RV would be once a month at the most.

The RV would be once a month at the most. I wanted no part in it honestly. But our millennial kids down in Austin just bought a Momentum and she thinks we are going to spend lots of time with them and camp with them. I tried to explain to her that there is a reason they moved 5 hrs away in the first place. And she thinks the city won't mind if we live in it on our driveway while we have the inside of our house torn up. And I think she will learn that probably neither of those will come true. Which is why I let her handle the whole deal. However, we did buy it right, I think, so I'm not afraid of taking a financial hit if we decide to sell it in a couple years.

Man o man, Conga-Ratz! I gave that thread a very good reading too. You may or may not be happy with it, but you'll get the experience of it and can always sell it afterword. Let us know how it works out and when you get to the chasing mud sharks across the floor with a broom.
And not meaning to highjack your thread, but is there a maker or brand of trailer to stay away from vs. a brand that is built better for longevity?

Not sure - this is a Gulfstream but unfortunately not the jet variety. I think they build high end coaches as well but this could also be a retail name for another TT mnfg. Who knows. I left this totally to her.
I would keep an eye out in a year for a slightly used travel trailer for sale from us in case anyone is interested.

It’s nice looking but I’m no expert. I have been able to quell any talk of getting one

We considered Airstream but they are flat out overpriced, I don't they are quality built like they were in the past. We started with a Casita and are sold on the fiberglass shell travel trailers. We bought a 25' BigFoot several months ago and have really enjoyed it.
If you truly want a bed and a shower with a few other amenities you might consider a Casita, next step up would be an Escape. Olivers are nice but pricey. The Casita was great for pulling anywhere you wanted to go, just got a little too tight for me.
Never had anything break on the Casita and nothing on the BigFoot. We also sold the 2 year old Casita for $2k more than we gave for it.

I'm going to scale the tires down from my current 315 to 295's, however. I have Ram 3/4 and 1 ton trucks to do the trick as well if they are not out working.

We are Grand Design owners and have had two. Both have been very good trailers.

Yep, Grand Design. We just took ours (had it 3 years) up to Tyler State Park for 3 days and had a great time, except that she was upset that I caught more fish. You could make a good case that Airstream is the best, but we insisted on slide outs, which Airstream doesn’t offer.
Things that matter: good tires really matter; a tire pressure monitor is highly recommended. And you want a good weight distribution and sway control setup. And a good electric brake controller (Tekonsha P3).
