Two questions for you guys.

1.Does anyone know a good website/lead on viewing used trucks for sale by owner?
2.Any tips based on experience purchasing a truck from a dealership using cash? No financing.

I am about to purchase something and I want to do my due diligence and do this right.

Used cars for sale by owner? Cars.com or autotrader.com

Dealer? Brian Spagnola works at Texas MotorCars and Monte Coone is the manager at Moritz Chevrolet. I'd contact those two.

As far as tips buying it from another dealer? You want the newest salesperson there, usually the hungriest, and be willing to walk away from the deal. I know what I'm willing to pay for a vehicle, TTL included, and if they won't meet me at my price, then I walk. It's nothing personal, it's just business.

Cash isn’t necessarily better than financing in terms of price. Dealerships and salesmen make a lot of money off financing.

Call me, I have 97 pre owned trucks right now. You can pay cash, no games here. You will find there are not to many dealers wheeling and dealing on pre owned trucks anymore. So I suggest finding one no matter where you look that the budget fits what you are going to look at. Shortage of inventory, and more customers that we have ever seen, sprinkle on the age of Amazon we live in now. That equals for people just pricing inventory for what they need to get.

I hope Brian can help you out. If not, suggest taking a peek at Enterprise or Hertz car sales. I did the comparisons for like trucks with several dealerships and the rental places offered the best bang for the buck on a used truck. Good luck.

Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.

As a former car salesman one of my jobs was at a no hassle pricing lot. Here is the process and it works for any car.

1) find the type of truck you want. Let’s says it’s a 2015 Chevy Silverado. You want one with under 85k miles on it. And you want the 1500 half ton crew cab in Silver.
2) go to cars.com and enter those features in the search fields.
3) select 150 miles for a range to get a good selection.
4) sort lowest to highest price. Go look at the top 4 or 5 returns. And I wouldn’t waste my time on any vehicle that doesn’t have a free Carfax as part of their ad.
5) keep in mind these lowest priced trucks don’t have room to negotiate much. They are already the lowest priced based on your criteria.
It’s really that simple. We would do this with each car sold and if ours wasn’t the lowest we would match the price.

Tough time to buy. The used market is sky high right now because of all the production issues with new vehicles at the moment. If you can hold off, you may want to consider it.

I have a friend who sells cars and he suggests this to me. Not to others, but to his friends he said this is the absolute best way to get the lowest price. They will match the price you find even if they loose a few bucks on it... Just so they can say they match the lowest prices so no need to shop anywhere else.
