Looking for a spot to try out my new canoe that I am going to pick up. Any recommendations a lake, river or creek where I would be able to go catch some crappie next week around Fort Worth or off of I-20 on the way back to Odessa.

Been catching a few at benbrook in mustang creek. They have a kayak launch at the creek that I fish when it’s windy the creek is usually calm. Haven’t been to marine creek lately but is worth a try.

I think that might be a little out of the way.

I was thinking something closer to Fort Worth or like 30 minutes off of I20. So I can hit the water for a few hours and try out the new rig.

What about Weatherford? I see people launching yaks from the boat parking area to the west of the marina.

Weatherford Lake at the Marina has great crappie fishing. You can catch them at marine creek also, caught one there yesterday on a spinnerbait.
