When I first started my internet business, before the forums, I worked 3 jobs. In the evenings I bartended, during the seasons I ran a guide service for Sandhill Crane, ducks, geese, quail and pheasant and the rest of the time I worked on Outfitters & Guides Online. Outfitters & Guides was a directory and web development business for hunting and fishing guides and outfitters. It never made much money, but did produce extra income.
At times I would bartend at a club and get off work at around 3am, head home, pack up decoys and other stuff, then head to the field, get home around 4 or 5pm, take a nap, then head back to the bar. Often I repeated this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I have no idea how I did it. In 1998 I picked up the contract to produce Texas Parks & Wildlife's Weekly Fishing Report, which lead to the start of the Texas Fishing Forum later that year. At one point I had 4 jobs.
Just thinking about my schedule back then makes me tired.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Just thinking about my schedule back then makes me tired. That is a great success story, you are not afraid of working hard and it paid off. I started working at age 13. Just retired 2 years ago. I put my all into most everything I did. Looking back, the tough times made the good times that much sweeter.

I usually kept a job that let me work plenty of overtime. Seems like I was too busy partying to keep more than 2 jobs at a time. I would pick up 10 of so local (inside Texas) furniture/house moves a year which funded my lifestyle too. Pretty sure I work more hours these day than I did back then

I started sweeping the Hangar at the Airport in San Angelo where my dad had a shop and flight school when i was 13. That allowed me some cash to work on my go cart and my Doodlebug! Spent the summer of my 15th year mostly on horseback working on several of my uncles ranches chasing down screwworm cases then digging the maggots out and sending them to Mission for the eradication program. After that mostly airplane stuff including recovering a vintage J-3 Cub. Last 50 years flying way too many Aircraft types to count and making more traffic patterns teaching than I want to count. Finished career training and certifying pilots in the classroom and flight simulator on several business jets including mostly single pilot variants. I retired to our place in Central Texas in 2016 and seems like I am still working! lol. Forgot a stint in the USAF T-38 Instructor early โ70s.

when I graduated from high school,me and 5 of my buddies piled into a 1951 ford 2 door and drove cross contry from east tenn. to washington state where we had summer jobs in a green giant english pea cannery....we worked 12 hour shifts,7 nights a week on the production line....the work was physically exhausting and added to my resolve to get a college education so I wouldn't have to work like that to make a living.....incidentally that was in 1957 and i ain't eat an english pea since then...

I had many jobs growing up. Some of the most fun I had was one summer while in H.S. I worked an Ice House in 24 degree cold taking 300lb blocks of ice and turning them into crushed ice for the bags you all get at the 7-11's. I worked 8-10 hours there then went to my next job working at a Mexican restaurant till about 1am. Only problem I had was the sweat I made moving the ice would freeze on me and then thaw out later that night at the restaurant. I'd have to sneak into a restroom and do a full wipe down.

In the 90s I average 165 nights a year in hotels in Oklahoma and West Texas with my sales job. In 2000 I started my own sales company and traveled even more for the first 4 years and hired and managed 3 other salesmen. Did not take any money from company for 3 years and lived off savings and selling a collectible gun every couple of months from my collection. It takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice to be successful. I was lucky and hired smart people and a great manager after a few years. I am selling out to a couple of my employees in the December and retiring, really just moving on to the next projects. Oil and ranching. Been a great run.

Mowed lawns starting about 7 years old until 16. Then flipped burgers for 2 years, then went work at Tucker boat shop in Grand Prairie worked my way up to service manager. At 22 I started my career at G.M. and continued working at boat shop from 9 until 2 then would go to the plant and work from 4 til 2. Did this for 20years and decided 1 had to go so quit turning bolts on outboards. Then most weekends during the summer I would cut and bale hay on the farm near Hugo Ok. Dang life was easier until I got old.

After I graduated high school, I got a job at a local sandwich shop. Then, I started delivering newspapers on Saturday nights/ Sunday mornings for a friend. Then she got injured, ruptured her spleen and I took over the largest store delivery route in our area. I worked 40 hours a week at the sandwich shop and nights delivering papers. I hired my friend to help with the almost 2000 Sunday papers.... that lasted 3 months and then I had to quit the sandwich job, because it was just too much. Never worked more than one job after that, never needed too, but I did do a lot of ministerial work at my church, so that was basically a second job for about 10 years.
When I first started at the university, I was available to work 7 days a week trying to build up my clientele. Now I work 4 to 5 days a week.... Monday-Wednesday I go in at 6:00 a.m. and am usually home by lunch. Tuesdays and Thursdays I go in around 8 and I'm usually home by 5...Fridays are my longest days, sometimes on at 6 am and walkout the door at 6:00 pm. I only see 4 clients a day, most are 90 minute sessions, plus another 30 to 45 minutes to clean the room due to Covid. I do get some downtime, but Fridays can be brutal.
