4/2/2021: Took friends Ed and Paul out today from 2:30 to 5:30 PM and we caught 141: 138 white bass, 2 big yellow bass, and a 32.5 inch flat-head catfish. We started at Swing-set Hump (22 to 25 fow), then to Flagpole Hump (18 to 20 fow), and finished at 60 Acre Hump (14 to 22 fow). Most fish were caught fishing straight down jigging and lifting #4 Mepps off the bottom. In the shallower water we caught them casting out and working the Mepps back to the boat along the bottom. Here are the pics:

Nice job Dennis! 60 acre hump is almost a stones throw from my house. I really need to hook up with you at some point and have you show me the ropes. smile

4/8/2021: Took friends Paul and Cliff out from 2:30 to 5:40 PM, and we caught 148 white bass. We caught them at Crappie Island Flats, Campbell's Hump, and Dam Ridge. The better fish were at Dam Ridge in 20 to 23 fow. We caught them fishing straight down working the Mepps on the bottom and by casting away from the boat and working the Mepps back to the boat along the bottom. All of us were using #4 size inline spinners. Here are a couple of pics:

4/10/2021: Grandson Sam came over for a day of fishing. We went out from 9 AM to 1:15 PM and ended up with 160: 159 white bass and one good-sized yellow bass. We also caught a bunch of 8 to 9 inch fish. With a brisk NW wind, we stayed on the north side of the Clear Creek arm of the lake. We caught fish at 3 spots: Saint Annes Point East, Swing-set Hump, and 60-Acre Hump. We left still catching fish. All fish were caught on #4 silver Mepps Aglia plain spinners. The bigger fish were in 20 to 23 fow; smaller keepers were in 12 to 15 fow. We went out with my new target amount - 153 fish. I told Sam that was our target, and he guessed where I got the number. Can you? Here are a couple of pics:

Thanks for the reports Dennis! Lincoln and I made our first trip of the year to CC yesterday and fished from 3:30-6:30 and had a blast. We caught 134 including a 4lb hybrid. All caught on #4 Mepps. We caught most of them by the dam in 20’ of water. Also caught some at mid lake hump.

Great to meet you yesterday up by spillway hump.
Appreciate all of your help and info on the forum.
Hope you were able to find some hybrids.

Thanks for the kind words. I never found any hybrids. I went out yesterday and today and observed two patterns for white bass. One is along main lake shallow, sandy points and shoreline in 5 to 8 fow. I cast a #4 Mepps and worked it slowly through them. You can see a few on side scan. I think either the sand bass or the shad are spawning there. I do know the shad are spawning along bulkheads early morning - caught 10 in short order along my bulkhead. The second pattern is in 20 to 25 fow on points, humps, and drop-offs fishing straight down. Lightly tap boat floor to keep them under you. I was lifting or cranking up #4 Mepps.

4/25. Not to hijack Mr. Christians post, but I went out today to sunken island and caught fish in 8 to 10 ft. of water using a #4 mepps casting out and reeling it back to the boat. Ended with about 25 total. Wind got up, so we decided to call it a day. Fished from about 7 ish till about 10 ish. Tried the tennis courts area, but only caught about 3 there.

Great thread! Y’all are having way too much fun. What color Mepps lure work best. Looks like it is red and a gold spinner. I am planning a few trips to Tawakoni this year. Hope to have as much fun as you.

Slick Rick, it is a yellow on 1 side and red on the other side, bodied Mepps with a silver spinner. It is a Mepps Aglia plain.

OK, in my post of April 10, I mentioned that when I go out on a fishing trip, I have a new target number of 153, and I asked you to guess where I got that number. My grandson Sam guessed it right off. Before I tell you, I'll give you one last chance to figure it out. Dennis

Its the number Simon Peter and his fellow apostles caught after Jesus told them to cast their net on the right side. This was when Jesus met them in Galilee after His resurrection. John chapter 21.
