While mowing yesterday I noticed water coming from this pipe. I haven’t run the AC for weeks...any idea as to potential source of the water and how to fix it?

Sure would appreciate any help!

Is it the condensation line from your overflow pan, under your AC.? Pour bleach down the main drain line, it’s plugged with algae

Is that your AC drain? Those usually come out the soffits from the attic. And if they are dripping it almost always means your coils are dirty, so you need to change your filters and possibly clean your coils.

Could this be from the water heater over flow pan?

gonna have to check the ac drain pan. i'd also bet one of those is the pressure release drain on your water heater. are you positive which one is which. if that is the secondary ac drain, the main ac drain is clogged up

Thanks guys! I‘m a stickler about changing the filters...I do it once per month.

I do think it’s the AC line but the AC hasn’t been on for a long time. Why would there be any moisture if the AC isn’t running?

I can get up in the attic and check it out in a bit, but thought I might get some ideas of what to look for before I head up.

Hey thanks man! No I’m not sure at this point. I was assuming it’s the AC one because it’s 1/2 inch pipe. Assumed the other one was water heater because it’s 3/4 inch. Don’t know if that’s sound logic or not.

Have your wife look down the pipe in the attic while you blow some compressed air up through that so she can see if it's clogged.

the water heater drain pan could be 3/4 but i'm talking about the w/h pressure release valve drain line, not the w/h pan drain line. if the ac unit is in the attic, check around the house in the general vicinity under the eves or roof overhangs or whatever they're called for another pipe sticking out of the eve. that most likely is the secondary a/c drain. the primary ac drain would be piped into one of your interior drains for a sink or tall-ett if the ac unit is in the attic

Ahhh, got it. I sure appreciate it spankyttx...you’re the man! I just went out (water heater in garage, not attic) and released the valve a little. Went out and looked and that’s exactly where it drained.

Will let it dry up out there and see if it’s still leaking. If so, it’s still under warranty, will call and get the valve replaced. I’ve replaced them before, but since it’s still under warranty...will let them do it.

Thanks so much!!

sometimes if you pop it open for second or two it will close off properly again, other than that, keep an eye on it, that valve is there for a reason, to much pressure from water pressure or it's getting too hot inside the tank

I was thinking it could be related in some way to the forced on/off cycles driven by the rolling blackouts we experienced. I let some faucets drip warm water during some of it. I may also need to drain sediment out. It’s less than 1.5 years old though.

T&P (temperature & pressure) relief valves DO go bad occasionally. When they do, they drip, then given enough time, will actually leak a good deal of water.

Be safe,
