Any thoughts on Garrison Brothers? The oldest Texas Bourbon.

I've about given up on Texas whiskey after TX and Giant Texas. If you're a gambling man, the best bet is on Kentucky.

Here is where I am at, so far:

Good for an occasional change
• Bulleit Rye - $31.99, lots of spice, little on the bitter side but pretty dang good.
• Makers 46 - $42.99, even bolder, spicy, yes it is worth the extra $$$, nose not great, good neat. My favorite mixed with cola.
• Buffalo Trace 35.99 - weak nose, lightly spiced, easy sipper, enjoyable, little overpriced imo, would buy again under $30.
• Knob Creek - 32.99 nose-weak, sweet, easy sipper, excellent whiskey, but for flavor profile, I'll probably buy Larceny for less $$$.
• George Dickel No. 12 - 28.99 Bold, strong tobacco flavor, most unique so far.

In my normal rotation
• Woodford Reserve - 38.99, licorice taste mixed (I like it), very good neat. Good stuff!
• Jim Beam Devil's Cut 25.99 - weak nose, heavy oak, decent spice, fast/clean finish. Good value.
• 1792 - 32.99 banana bread, hot finish, very good.
• Sazerac Rye - 29.99 excellent rye whiskey, slighter bitter finish may turn some off.
• Evan Williams BIB - 20.99, balanced with good spice, very good mixed, good neat, excellent value.

Must have on hand
• Larceny- 25.99 This is the good stuff!
• Wild Turkey 101 - 25.99 (liter), spice is very good, very good mixed, great taste neat, hot finish, best budget whiskey imo.
• Elijah Craig - 35.99 May be my favorite. Unique flavor profile. %^$# good!

Didn't make the cut: Crown, Jameson, Ezra Brooks, Evan Williams Black, Makers Mark, TX, Redemption Rye, Forty Creek & Giant Texas.

FWIW - you might give Old Forrester 100 proof a try. I can find it for about $25. I think it is very underrated.

Two Stars Bourbon is Total Wine’s house brand. Barton/Clear Springs makes it for Total Wine. The two stars are a reference to the Louisville, Kentucky city flag.

Said to be decent at its price point; but not as good as similarity priced Evan Williams BIB or Early Times BIB.

Basil has always been a good bourbon. I rip off the paper nonsense and get after it. I might pick up a bottle this weekend.

The Single Barrel Small Batch has a long, complex finish but at its price point, there are far better options, IMO.

I wish it were better.

I saw a few bottles of Booker's the other day. I think I am going to pick up a bottle of that instead.
