I'm buying an older center console boat and plan to strip all of the electronics out and start over with a complete system. I went crappie fishing with a guide recently and he had a Garmin unit with live scope on the bow and some other unit on his console. He kept running back and forth at to see what each one was seeing. I want a similar setup with live scope or active target on the bow and a 12'' gps/ fishfinder on the console. If I go with a Lowrance hds live 9'' connected to an active target transducer on the trolling motor, will a hds live 12'' be able to see the active target image at the same time if linked wirelessly? Can anyone give an idea which garmin units would be able to achieve the same thing? Garmin has so many options it gets a little confusing. My fishing style is 2-3 times a month, no tournaments. I fish saltwater in the bays, but have a lake nearby with crappie, white bass and hybrid stripers that I want to target.

Should you go with Lowrance, you will want to ethernet cable between the two LIVE units. This will give you the capability to have the Active Target showing on both units. I have this set up on my boat and I had a gentleman in my boat two weeks ago that was watching from my console unit and he stated that Lowrance Active Target had slightly better detail than in a previous set of trips he had taken with Garmin product in the boat.
