Fished with Doc from 8 am til 7 pm...Water temp ranged from 68 -74 degrees & lake level continues to rise...almost at full pool. Had a cool morning, mostly bluebird skies and a full moon to contend with, but the fishing continued to be pretty good, although not as good as the last 2 weeks. We spent a lot of time today searching for sunfish. Tried 7 of out favorite bluegill hangouts off and on all day long, but they have decided to hunker down in the deep water for at least one more week. We ended the day with 4 bluegill, one catfish & 28 bass. The bass bite continues to be good with quite a few quality fish. They all look healthy & were released to fight another day. [Linked Image]

Tom...I sure hope you are right...they are late this year...maybe they are afraid to congregate in the shallows due to social distancing...you know....the monofilamentitus virus ?
Yesenia...can't complain...It will only get better as the weather warms up.
Thanks Barry...I know I have a sore shoulder from casting all day...but it's a good pain !

I told Steve that I thought even though the bite was not as red hot as some previous trips I thought it was about as an enjoyable day
on the water as I've had. It was like fishing in air conditioning all day. The day started out dead calm, a rarity for Fayette. The first pic
below is taken very early when the water was producing mirror like reflections of every thing in view. The other pic was late in the
afternoon right before we left. A gorgeous day. Soli Deo Gloria !

Good trip guys - would have been there Monday but had previously committed to play in golf tourney. Fished FCL today and the wind was quite a challenge. Bait presentation was tough but we managed to catch and release 24 bass with two over 4lbs. Hope to see you guys at FCL over the next few weeks. smile

Chuck...I feel like the bluegill are real close...It's amazing how they just turn on like overnight. At this point they are 2 weeks late (so far) as compared to previous years.

Thanks Rick & Scott...Scott...it's too bad your golf gets in the way of your fishing...tough life. We played Grey Rock yesterday...(worst round so far this year) ...We tried a stretch of your water on Monday with zero success...Sounds like you had a good day in the wind. Hope to catch up with you next week.

Here is another sunset pic from Monday....She came from 20 feet of water [Linked Image]

For what you have been saying about the lake level, I guess the bite will be on fire once full pool is achieved.

Vogey that picture is simply "PRICELESS" ! That would be a wall hanger!

Side Note: Awesome post. You guys are nailing em. For what I am reading on your post the Bluegill/Sunfish bite will be at it's best once full lake level is achieved. On the few trips I have been on Fayette the lake has always been at full level. Needless to say we caught plenty of nice fish. Again great posting from Fayette as always. woot

Curtis & Tom...I don't believe the water level (lake being full) is as important as the water temp being around 75 degrees steady for a week or so. Last year they were in the shallow colonies before the lake was full, but the water temp was warmer earlier. (like 5-10 degrees warmer)
