Looking to try and go fishing for striper tomorrow; I have been with out a fishing boat for a few years, and so have not fished much lately but finally got a new one. Have the fish started to move up the creeks yet or are they still out deep? I drove over the dam today but didn't see even one boat.... it was pretty windy I guess. I picked up some flukes and have the casting net ready too. I have honestly never fished for striper, only bass..... Any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Well the striper beat me..... I saw a lot of fish on the graph, but could not connect. I tried dead sticking, a jig head with a fluke, and trolling with small umbrellas but no luck. Got frustrated and picked up a few bass..... then went back to trying to get the striper. I don't know why they are so hard for me. I will admit the conditions were not great today, and trying to learn a new boat boat with ipilot verse a foot pedal was difficult too. maybe next time.... (side note, I saw some guy on shore real in 2 fish in a 5 minute period...very frustrating)

(side note, I saw some guy on shore real in 2 fish in a 5 minute period...very frustrating) Drift fish or troll for catfish, with Santee Cooper rigs, or suspended down rigs, using cut or live shad. You'll catch all the striper you want, as long as they're showing up on the graph. LOL, this happened to us last time we were on Texoma in Spring. If you really want to use the artificial, I caught more striper on Whitney, this time of year, using a high/low rig, with bucktails, and a curly tail swim bait, than on the umbrella rigs. I did catch some on the umbrella rigs, but they hit more on the high/low, for me. I used a 1.5, and a 1 oz. on one rig, and a 1 and a 3/4 oz. on the other, both got down into the fish at 2.2 to 2.4 mph.
