Not a bad Saturday morning on the lake. I was able to catch some bait near the boat dock, also picked up some blue gill and of course brought my chicken.
I was fishing deeper waters around 28ft, water was at 62 degrees and was able to put 10 in the boat.
Decided to have a contest. I put out 6 poles, chicken on 3 and either blue gill or shad on the other 3.
Chicken -9 caught
Blue gill -1 caught.
If the bait works, it works. I will probably try to move more towards shad in the next few months, but I will always bait at least one poll with chicken.

I fished with a guide on the Chatanooga River in TN a few years back and he used chicken.
Came back to Cedar Creek and have used chicken ever since ! Works great !
