I have worn Costas Del Mar sunglasses for probably close to 20 years ( I have 4 pairs, 2 of which I wear daily). Over the years things happen, whether its the products fault or mine. I have always had a great experience when I have had to have any service or warranty work done to them, until now.

I was at a friend's daughters birthday party and one of the kids knocked them off of me on accident (my fault). One of the lens cracked (580G) so I needed to send them in and have new lenses put in, which cost me $80 when I broke a lens one other time. Also, the finish was coming off the frames, which is a product defect and Costa has always replaced the frames under warranty and did not cost me anything (I have had to send in Costas several times over the years for warranty work).

So I filled out the info through www.costadelmar.com and sent them pics of the frame defect and of the cracked lens. Their response was that my sunglasses were out of warranty, but they would sell me a new pair for $196.26.

They did the exact same thing to one of my friends.

I am done with Costa.

Everyone be very careful with your Costa because if something happens to your sunglasses this will probably happen to you.

Must be something within the last few months. November last year, they replaced 4 pair for me for just the normal shipping cost. Broke frames, scratched lenses, etc. Each pair was discontinued so they offered me a choice of certain (comparable costs of what I had) replacement fraimes/lenses for free, other than shipping that is. Shame to hear if this is the route they start taking.
I do recall hearing of some warranty changes, but that was before I sent mine in so I assumed what I heard was just rumor. Maybe not the case now.

Yes their warranty and service has always been great to deal with until now. Now when you fill out the info online you don't deal with Costa, now it is through a company below.

Ya, I ended up getting suckered into buying a second pair. I had the rubber nose piece on my glasses tear. (how does the nose piece tear!)
The place to send in for warranty work was temporarily closed due to covid. Well, I'm one who is going to have some sunglasses at all times. So I bought another pair with the thought that I'll
wait for the repair place to open back up.

When I tried later on, I got the same result as you did. Now, I have a pair that doesn't even have a scratch and I can't use them because they don't have a nose piece. I'm pretty sure they are also the 580 style.

Forgot to add:

I got my Costa's because it's what Barry promotes on Fox Sports Southwest.
I hope he see's this and can mention the feedback of bad customer support from Costa.

The company that makes Wiley X sunglasses is moving their business from California to Frisco TX. They will be getting my business going forward. I will wear my 2 pair of Costa’s til they wear out or break.

WileyX ain’t any better. I have a pair that were less than a year old and they denied a lense warranty. The lenses we’re delaminating around the edges. WileyX told me it due to sun exposure. I said DUH!!!! I wear them in the sun!! Trash can they went.

I’m gonna start buying the StrikeKing polarized disposable glasses from Walmart’s fishing isle.

Well for what it's worth you can buy some 580G costa's on ebay for like 130 lol thats how I bought my 4 pairs and will buy more I know the warranty sucks, but so does pretty much every warranty in the fishing industry.

so you must really be pissed at Costas to post this same story on multiple sites. I've owned a set of Fisch 580g's for 8 years. I sent them in under warranty 2 years ago because the rubber ear pieces came off and they had discontinued that model so let me pick out any of the other models in the $250 price range. It cost me $11 to do the swap and they DO still have a lifetime warranty..so other than your sunglasses being damaged due to an accident, not sure why you'd expect them to be covered under warranty. I DO know that filling out ANY warranty form online and admitting that the glass was damaged due to an accident will cause the average customer service rep to miss/ignore the other part of your claim. Did you actually call and speak to someone? If so, did you speak to a manager?
I've had two pairs of Maui Jims and they both fit so tight on my head that I get headaches by the end of the day. I've been totally happy with my Costas.
