I'm looking at getting one to wear all the time but they are not Coast Guard Approved. So if I am driving with it on will I be within the laws of Texas? Also anyone using one now and if so what kind of review can you give?

I have a $500 Racing Life Line jacket I wear when testing boats for top speed. Life Line has not jumped thru all the hoops to become USCG-Approved so they are not.
I will tell you exactly what the GW told me when I asked him about it. Unless it has the USCG-Approved logo on it you will receive a citation. So event ho I have it on I have to keep a cheap approved PFD in the boat as well.

Are you talking about the $90.00 ones? If so just spend the same money and buy a brand that is USCG approved or spend a little more and get a better one.

Seems like the simple solution if you’re set on one. Keep a cheap approved one (or two) in the boat with you.
Space, what draws you to it? (I have never heard of them before and am just curious)

(I have never heard of them before and am just curious) Grout I like the price, think they will be cooler in the summer heat when motoring from one spot to another and I fish mostly by myself. 73 years old and have had a boat come too close and caused me to get tossed out into the lake (I was fishing on the other side of the boat and never saw the wave). I have a ladder on my boat but if I hit my head, well just trying to be safer. I found another model that is a little more expensive and approved that I have ordered and it should be he in time for me to try it on Choke next week.

Hit your head and fall in near a gators nest and you’re gonna be lol It is a bit humorous how scared some are of the gators, guys on FB act like there are thousands of alligator attacks there.
