Fished the LBL this week with my pal Jeff. We launched our Yaks on the west side of IH 35 and fished up river. We fished from 8am till 3p and had a good day despite the wind. We caught 12 bass with the biggest going about five pounds. The rest were in the two to three pound range. Silver/Blue Rattle Traps got the best results. Fish were in 4 to 10 feet of water. We also caught some nice Redbreast holding close to overhanging tree limbs in 4 to 8 feet of water. Small spinner baits worked well. Rounding out the catch were some Bluegill which were caught in 6 feet of water holding close to grass beds. Gulp Alive Leaches on a drop shot rig got the best results. Other than fighting the wind the worst part of the trip was the IH 35 traffic which was horrible all the way home. All in all a great day fishing the Austin area. Love the LBL! woot

A lot of homes going up between San Antonio and Austin. Buildings and houses are springing up everywhere. Looks like TX Dot is adding lanes on IH35 and that construction will last for about 3 years. Traffic is going to get a lot worst before it gets better! nuts

Side Note: For future fishing trips, I might just have to hit Austin at 5am and plan on heading back home at 8pm. hmmm

Great trip right there! cheers
Rattle traps and spinnerbaits will definitely help you find them and stay on fish once you've found them. Thanks for the excellent post, Curtis!
