It pinch the line and compromise its strength? I am worried about the line breaking due to the peg.

Thanks in advance

if you are talking the slide on ones, yes it does bend it....but you just add it on at the end of the line so the amount of line affected by the bend is minimal/a few inches and cut that off as part of your tag end when you tie your knot 🤷‍♂️

^^^^This^^^^
Put it on around the last 1" of line. After you tie on your hook it will be part of the tag end you cut off.

Thanks. Yes, I was referring to the slide on ones. I didnt know with as tight as it is on the 20lb line, if it impacts the line integrity.

Have been pegging t-rig for 40 + yrs. No problem, i use a tooth pick in the end of weight! Just enough pressure to hold in place, then cut with nail clippers .thumb

I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

Theyre actually not on that tightly. I peg all my texas rigs because I fish in annoying rock and ive noticed pegging with a 3-9 inches "leader" type area above the weight makes it through it all well...and still lets the bait do its thing. Forgot what pro...but recently heard him mention something along similar lines of pegging his weight in situations beside flipping....and it just made perfect sense to me.

Going back to them being tightly on...and how they really arent. Ive heard some people wont use the slide on ones for flipping/punching applications and go with the ones you slide into the line opening through the weight...those are supposed to keep the weights in place much better, but i cant personally vouch for that one.

Man...pegging all T rigs must be a secret! Just started doing it a couple years ago after t-rigging more and was amazed how it helped. Never really heard anyone give that advice either for all the youtube vids and pro articles ive read!

I used to use toothpicks, probably 35 years of doing so, but switched to the slide on stops about 10 years ago.
I like them better

Been using flat toothpicks for 30+ years and can see no reason to change. Fish with guys that use bobber stops, peg its, etc. and have seen zero advantage offered by these more costly methods.

Same. And, as mentioned above, I use the part that got crimped as my tag end and just snip it off. Never had any issues.

Ive used toothpics, bobber stops, tiny split shots, peg it and 2 or 3 others over the last 50 years on everything from 6lb. mono & flouro to 80lb. braid. And to my knowledge and memory, I don't think I've ever broke off because of any of them.
