It is a 1960's camper - which is its strength - built like tanks and virtually no problems (if there are it's with add on equipment). A direct descendant of a Boler (1968 - and still bulletproof today) that many have lengthened and copied (the latest, with a huge price tag: Oliver):

That you don't like them is fine not everyone's cup of tea - but many thousands have for absolute reliability.

Don't get me wrong they are built well/strong little trailers. Would be nice having one a little larger though, 22-24ft maybe?

Somebody is doing exactly that on a dual axle. I didn't mistake your observation it's valid, and they're a little too tough (for my body now) and much overpriced at this point for me. The KZ-14 we had was tough enough to go many thousands of miles (over 30K), had a metal roof, was sub $10K to buy and much better laid out (full shower, a wall AC we could use our 2K generator with, on and on). A family makes them too.

Escape is making a 23ft foot fiberglass trailer, their trailers are really well built. https://escapetrailer.com/

We went with a BigFoot 25ft, they are all 2 piece fiberglass shells. BigFoot is a 4 season trailer. https://www.bigfootrv.com/bigfoot_rv_travel_trailers_2500_series.html

Dang, people were tiny in the 1950s.

Hi, Mrs. Cleaver, how are you doing?

My wife and I have a travel trailer that we bought new a couple of years ago. We use it often as we are retired.

Advantages: Convenience. Sleep in your own bed rather than a motel room. It is easier to pack for a trip since we keep the trailer stocked and ready to go. Having an RV enables us to stay at State Parks. It is inexpensive and allows us to spend time in the outdoors. If wife needs a bathroom while travelling just pull over anywhere and use the toilet in the trailer rather than public restrooms. It’s easier to go see grandkids and have a place to stay. It has all the conveniences of home.

Disadvantages: Gas mileage cut by 50%. Lots of upkeep, mostly little things. If you’re handy it’s not a big deal. The trailer going down the road is going to shake like a house in an earthquake so screws, etc may come loose. Tires and wheel bearings to keep an eye on. Registration each year. Rapid depreciation like a car.

You can’t justify owning an RV by money saved. You sure don’t save money owning one.

How so if one spends half the year on the road? Start doing the per-diem cost of restaurants & motels for 6 months....vs. economy campground and cooking your own meals.

If I was buying an RV for the first time they would have to bring me back from fainting.
The price would knock me out

The quickest way to ruin a two week vacation is take a travel trailer on a road trip.

The cheapest part of RV ownership is buying the RV. Storage, insurance, maintenance, depreciation, and campground expense is also a factor. Then there is an intangible that most people face. It’s a guilty feeling you get when you realize how much you are spending on something that you don’t use enough to justify and it is staring you in the face 365 days a year.

Did you buy it from their dealer in Marble Falls? Their websites don't offer any pictures of the bathrooms. Can you give me a ballpark on pricing? If you want to message me this info I understand.

Interesting. We've fallen in love with ours. Went to Yellowstone in Summer 2020. Going to Durango, CO in Summer 2021. Already been to Tyler State Park, Glen Rose (Dinosaur Valley State Park), and have trips planned to Beavers Bend, Daingerfield (great hidden gem SP), and Florida (no camper).

Wouldn't trade it for anything...

When I retire, I'm going to buy an RV and move into Slab City.

We feel the same way about ours. Now have a Roadtrek (Chevy 3500), can slap the boat behind it if we choose, or takeoff anywhere. Agreed - wouldn't trade it (the freedom of living this way).

Some of my best memories are from our two week vacations. Plan on making many more. We have owed campers for years and now own grown kids own their own campers. Good times thumb
