Home computer so old I can't even get virus protection for it any more. Need to buy a new home computer for wasting time surfing, email, Word, Powerpoint, Excel. Not a game player other than the (very) occasional round of Klondike when I'm feeling really bored.

Where do I go to get a NEW computer? My personal preference is a desktop or tower type but an all-in-one isn't out of consideration. No interest in a laptop or tablet type.

Everything I see on the internet (Amazon, Walmart, etc) is renewed, revised, reconditioned, re-whatever. I don't want to buy something that was somebody else's problem and returned.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

I'm upgrading myself, just can't find a GPU so that will have to wait.

Are you sure it's too old??
Get in touch with Dafanman (Robert) here and see if he can work some of his magic.
He may be able to do some of it remotely.

A couple months ago he revamped my desktop to like new and it was under $250.00 (shipping included)

Grab an HP or Dell mid rage desktop, add memory(32gig would be perfect), solid state hard drive(minimum 500gig) and a Nividia based graphics card. You can buy all of that separate and at a cheaper price than you can get it from the manufacture most of the time. You can wipe the cra* that comes a new PC's hard drive if you don't want to install a bigger solid state drive and just load a fresh copy of your preferred operating system and whatever other software you need or want. New systems seem to come with a ton of useless trial software and junk. Better to have a nice clean setup to start with.

And pondfish is right...get dafanman to set it all up for you and you'll be good.

Any of you guy's considering a new computer, please feel free to call me and I can either advise you that your current system is still useable
or assist you in locating they type system you need for you use.

cheers

One other thing to consider for anyone looking for a new computer, I would get it sooner rather than later as the chip shortage will
affect price and availability if not now I expect prices to skyrocket soon

My daughter needs a laptop for college in September. Should we rush out and buy one now or wait until late summer?

dafanman, my computer quit on me a couple of years ago, and I have no idea what to buy or how to hook it up. Techfisher’s post was all Greek to me. I’m trying to buy a house down in the RGV so I can retire down there. I will definitely call you once I find and buy the house. Working off of this cellular phone is killing my vision...... Typing on it is killing my sanity. If I said I was low tech, it’d be a lie. I’m truly a no tech redneck. You’ll have to explain it verrrrry basically.....

Jim until you get a new computer my suggestion would be to get a bluetooth keyboard. I am typing on an iPad that has the Apple keyboard/case but before I retired I would only have my iPhone at the office but had a bluetooth keyboard that makes it heaps easider to type texts for e-mails.

Buy an iMac and never look back.

Easy to learn, use, fast, powerful and won’t be useless in 5 yrs.
