Rog, not to long ago there was a post on here asking if they thought there was a state record swimming somewhere in Texas. My comment was probably not because of the increased pressure and lack of cover like when the lakes were first in-pounded..

Now I must say yes. When a 15+ was caught in Fork last week it was released back in the lake but TPWD said because of the size in inches long and around it was more likely a 19 # fish.

Unfortunately for us, but probably fortunately for Fork, we will never actually know how big it was. Its fun to wonder tho!

I think it's safe to say that 99% of us would have at least taken a possible state record to a marina to have it weighed before releasing it back. So I'm very skeptical of it being that big. 15-16 lbs is still a mega giant.

What day? Who? Which fish are you referring to?

That 15 I have seen pictures of didn’t come from Fork from what I have been told and as several posted on here. I also was told the lake it came from but will not post here. Or are you talking about a different fish? I have not seen pics of a 15+ coming from Fork this year or last. Fork is the goat lake in Texas but like MJ she had gotten old. Lack of cover and pressure is really affecting the potential for numbers of 13+ fish like the lake produced in the old days. However, I feel there may be a few in the lake and felt we would see some caught this year by the a-rig panoptic guys. So far it hasn’t happened. Perhaps this weekend. I just feel with the number of man hours put in on the lake someone would stumble across a 13+ every now and then if they were in the lake.

Bruce there was a giant 12+ caught out of Monticello a couple years back. I was there the day it was caught. The pic was posted on the LFM FB page without the lake being listed. Everyone assumed it was Fork just because it was on the LFM page. January and February of that year Monticello was cranking out numbers of donkeys, Monticello was empty and those that knew were tight lipped, and fishing at Fork was terrible with everyone going to Welsh. Cant assume just because a lake Fork marina or guide posts a pic of a big fish on social media it came from Fork.

Ivie isn't a slot lake. It's just a 18" minimum with 2 small ones allowed. But I would be ok with them putting Fork's slot on Ivie

cheers so many different regulations. Do you remember or have any insight how/why they came up with those regulations for Ivie? Sounds like the state had high expectations for the lake, but what made them think that? I was a bit too young when they built it, to remember anything about it.

I have no clue how they come up with some of the regulations. I think they just throws darts at numbers

You could also ask why TPWD is highly praised by so many, since they kill all the vegetation that grows Bass.

FORK IS PAST ITS PRIME BEING ALMOST 40 YEARS OLD. WATER QUALITY IS HUGE. IVIE CAME UP 27 FEET AND IS BASICALLY A NEW LAKE. MANY OF THE MEXICO LAKES INCLUDING FALCON HAS SEEN THIS PHENOMENA OCCUR MORE THAN ONCE. IF YOU DREW DOWN FORK 27 FEET AND THEN IT ROSE BACK UP AND FLOODED ALL THE NEW UNDERGROWTH IT WOULD REJUVENATE THE LAKE.
