Any boat lanes or best way to navigate from Dam ramp to further in the back part of lake, looks like on the map there are a lot of stumps

You can run from dam to CFR but from there it's idle

Here's a picture from 2015 when the lake was about 10ft low.
See that circled hump in front of CFR--there are some petrified trees on it that could take out your lower unit and worse.
That circle and past it is a forest of petrified stumps and trees.

Leaving from dam stay left center, if you've never ran the lake idle starting at marina, be prepared it's been really crowded out there last few weeks! Been catching em past 2nd island

I was there saturday trying to avoid the Conroe crowds and it felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves. It was awesome! But, that lake is super stumpy and 99% seem to be just under the surface. Felt like i was rock crawling in a jeep while idling through the big flats to the west of CFR and by the island. I broke my transom AND trolling motor transducer brackets. Still better than battling the weekend crowd on Conroe though!

ETA: there are some stumps marked with orange flags that look a lot like a boat lane in certain areas, but they are NOT. Just stump markers. I wouldn't run anywhere past CFR as mentioned above.

It has been a long time since I have been out there. My friend (now passed) that got me into lake fishing in the 90's had a place on the lower end of the lake, and knew it like the back of his hand. We would run lanes (old logging roads) all the way to the top (about even with the second island) and a 90 degree offshoot to the second/top island. I would never try that on my own after all these years, but it was a blast to do back then. Good fish, good schooling, and typically a handful of fishing boats at most. I look forward to getting back, but looking the development around the lake, knowing what electronics allow people to find easily, and popularity, I know it will not be the same.
