Any experts with Electrolysis in DFW area I have excessive electrolysis problem. I'm no electrician but I'm sure there's a grounding issue somewhere.

I have the same issue.
I am adding a cutoff switch for my 36vdc circuit. I suspect the issue to be during charge.
I have a circuit breaker for the ultrex and tried charging with the breaker off, but it is a PIA to get the thing to reset. I am looking for a better solution.

It's way too common a problem, riggers get sloppy and it gets bad in a hurry. Dunk one in saltwater and you figure out real quick how bad it is.

Tinned wire, good grounds, shrink/glued connections on everything and ability to kill all circuits are a must. Hope you get it figured out, you are on the other side of the metromess from me or I'd try to help more. Good luck.

You may have a small water leak in the motor unit of the trolling motor causing in.

I just went through this with my new ultrex, first check the motor for water intrusion. Remove the motor from the mount and turn upside down to see if water runs out of the shaft. If no water is present, your problem is probably a ground issue. I ran a 10 gauge ground wire from the starting battery to the big motor and attached it at the jack plate , fixed mine right up.

Does your boat have a charging switch? A lot of electrolysis issues are caused by the charging switches. It is caused when a "ground" wire is run STRAIGHT from a trolling motor battery to a cranking battery and the positive wires are connected through the switch. This creates a path from your trolling batteries to your cranking battery. It is best to completely isolate any wires from your trolling batteries to your cranking battery. I made my own jump system by installing 2 "On/Off" switches. I ran a "Positive" wire from my trolling motor battery to the switch, then ran a wire from the switch to the "Positive" of my cranking battery. I did the same for the "Negative" wires and switch too. You NEED to use the trolling battery that has the NEGATIVE WIRE FROM THE TROLLING ATTACHED TO IT. This is VERY IMPORTANT. You are trying to prevent any current from "jumping" from your trolling battery to your cranking battery except when you are trying to jump start your motor. If you need to jump your cranking battery, turn on the switch that is connected to the negative side FIRST, then I turn on the Positive switch, start the motor, then turn off the Positive FIRST then the negative. This is opposite for the steps you are supposed to use when jump starting an automobile. With an automobile, you are supposed to connect the positive leads first then the negative leads, then remove the negative leads first then the positive leads.
Another thing to check is the fuse located in the head of the Ultrex. If it is blown, that can cause issues too.
