I bought some bitsy bug jigs. Where do you throw them and when? Do you catch big bass on small jigs?

Same place you would a TX rig.I like flipping small jigs in timber and rocks

Do you get more bites on a small jig?

I will throw one in clear water when I’m not able to get them to eat my regular jig. But I always down size my trailer first then if that don’t work I try the smaller jig.

Ok. Why would you buy something and not know how, when, where to use it?

Make sure you bitsy bug jigs say Bitsy flip jigs or you will have a tough time getting a hookset, the flip jigs have bigger hooks and are very deadly from 1 foot to 12 foot. good luck

When I’m fishing with someone else, a lot of times I’ll throw a finesse jig while they’re throwing a full size flipping jig.

I like to use them in late winter/early spring. Throw them on the outside edges of cover coming off the bank. If you can find a rocky bank with some visible cover coming 5 yardor so off the bank has been best for me.

Bitsy Flipping Jig or a better jig - 1/4 oz Oldham Trailer Hitch Jig on both use a finesse type craw, there are many out there, Zooms Lil Critter Craw is a good choice.

I use them in late winter / early spring in re-emerging grass. Fish them slow in the cooler water temps. Most often there will not be the normal thump, your line / bait will be moving off.

Bitsy bug is absolutely one of my favorite baits to throw, especially Mid-Winter through very Early Spring. Agree with meP2too that I rarely get a thump and the bait generally just takes off. I use them a lot in deeper chunk rock, gravel and on bluff walls. Biggest fish this year on a bitsy jig was a 9 pounder.
