tons of fish, well, not tons. huge numbers of fish all 10-16". not a single fish over 16". i put at least 20 in the boat and may buddy who was shadowing me boated at least 15. it was fun, but i could have just as much fun at a pond catching sunfish.

I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"

Peeps need to start keeping limits of below 14” fish out of that lake. thumb

quote from latest TPWD study on Bastrop —

The last three surveys have documented high stock-length CPUEs for Largemouth Bass, a steady decline in the number of slot-length fish, low IOV for Gizzard Shad, and a decline in Threadfin Shad CPUE. In addition, the practice of catch-and-release fishing among bass anglers is strong and recommended large-scale harvest of sub-slot fish to help improve population structure has been minimal. Consideration of an alternative harvest regulation (such as a 16-inch maximum) may be appropriate to see if improvement of size structure is feasible.

Welcome to Fayette as well. Prior to the spawn its been basically a dink fest. Its been heading that way for awhile. I feel sorry for people who have been hiring guides fishing that lake. Its not their fault but that lake is changing to be more like Bastrop. Numbers but small fish.

Actually kept five and went looking for a kicker as did my buddy. I don't normally keep them because I'm not a fan of bass, but fresh fish sounded good. I use to own some land with a 2.5 acre lake on it FULL of HUGE black crappie and very small bass. when I bought I began eating the crappie and tossing small bass on the bank for raccoons and other varmints. Sadly I no longer own that piece of property....divorce is a bitch!
