I caught this carp on a fly today. The fish appeared to be born without an eye. The eye on the other side was fine. Neat! That lateral line is a heck of a sensor! I'd imagine people have caught them without eyes.

Neat! That lateral line is a heck of a sensor! I'd imagine people have caught them without eyes. I have actually caught several carp with one eye, as well as other species with just one eye. My black bullhead unrestricted state record only had one eye, so one-eyed fish can grow to record size. But, I have never caught a fish with both eyes bad on a rod and reel. Blind cave fish do not have functioning eyes, so a fish without eyes can survive, but appear to be at a big disadvantage if light is available.
