First time on the water w Mega SI mounted on transom. I see these lines on the left (motor side). Wrong location for transducer mount? ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/03/full-15560-89507-a18919fc_758f_43b1_b95c_54f8db97c47a.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/03/full-15560-89508-a18919fc_758f_43b1_b95c_54f8db97c47a.jpeg)

Those look like the typical recorded echoes from a jackplate or some other vertical surface on the port side of the SI transducer.
Humminbird's Side Imaging pulses cover from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer on both sides.

Thank you. Wayne, should I lower the transducer or move it? If I should move it, where would be best? ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/03/full-15560-89528-5d370656_1481_4930_af63_32b07d94fc6b.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/03/full-15560-89529-f670aecc_7a00_4ac3_964b_9a57afe16126.jpeg)

Looks like it may need to be lowered and leveled. Mine is in same place and no interference even with motor tucked all the way.

You need to move it down to the other step, it should skim the water on plane. Up there you will not read anything. I spent 6 dadgum hours building and installing my transducer. Had to build a spacer for a round edge. Also clears the lower unit. Just couldn't get it to my exact setup until the third try. See pic below

Thank you. I learned something else today. Bought a new Helix 9 and today was the first day I was able to use the Ultrex i-Pilot link. It took me almost an hour, but I learned that to make the TM go to a waypoint you have to push the propeller button on the remote to make the TM engine spin. I sat there win the wind blowing away from my test spit for forever. Yeh head turned and faced the spot, but the wind kept me blowing down the lake. The laminated 1-page IFU doesn’t give enough detail. Finally I downloaded the full IFU on my phone and I was in business. Learn from my mistake.
Also, grapevine wasn’t “on” for me today. Blanked.
Big thank you to Steve in his new Ranger for the help. That’s a truly nice boat.

I have my Lowrance 3 in 1 and my former LSS-2 installed exactly as you have yours without any problems. Putting it lower as was suggested will be a problem if you fish any timber.

I had this exact same problem and fixed with moving it down one level as someone else suggested.

If you mean trim the outboard UP, I agree. We're looking at a photo with the outboard up on a trailering bracket. That big wide flat midsection is down in the water when he's on the lake, and I believer THAT is what he's getting reflections from. I suggest he put it back in the water, and simply drift with the outboard OFF and trimmed up very high. Check the screen, then start trimming the outboard down slowly while watching for the reflection lines to appear. This is likely happening due to the narrow setback of that jackplate. The outboard didn't get moved aft far enough to be out of the way.

You can leave it where it is if you put a cover or holeshot plate on the bottom of the jack plate. It is getting echoes from port inside of the jackplate.

That looks to be a 4" jackplate, so the outboard's midsection will be tucked in close when the boat is in the water. I'm betting the reflection is from the outboard, not the jackplate. He should do the experiment I suggested before he bothers to fix a jackplate that might not be where the echo originates.
