It has been windy as heck. Whats your comfort level when you say "I'm not going to the lake today ?"

I go when it's favorable and don't when I do not want to go. Retirement has it's advantages

Same here, I normally set a 10-12 mph limit when I'm not on a trip. When I'm down at Falcon or anywhere far from home, I'll always figure out something, The days of busting across Rayburn or Falcon in a 20+ mph wind have long since passed.

If it is blowing 10+ mph at home in Lufkin then it is a minimum of 15 but more likely 20+ on Big Sam. OMG

If I go I will usually go up the river or go to a different lake. fish

20 is about all I want. Unless itโ€™s at Amistad and you can hide a tiny bit better some of the places.

Tournament day, where can my boat get to in order to catch the biggest stringer.
Practice day, where do I need to look at before the tournament and can I find protected areas.
Fun day, where can I go to catch fish and how hard do I want to try today.

Bad weather like high wind or storms, how much do I want to go. In my younger years that usually was answered by going. I'm not so mad at the fish anymore.

30+ sustained, not 30 mph gusts, depending on the lake could change my mind about going. All of my favorite lakes around here have places you can launch and access decent water with minimal to no mainlake required.

Don't upset the wind gods! You are going to get us in trouble. Was at Grapevine Wednesday when it was blowing 30+ with gusts in the 40's. Me and another boat were what he would call "Mad at them". I checked the Wx report on my phone and it said 11-14mph winds. Well I am not using weatherbug anymore. Anything in the 25mph plus I dont mind fishing protected. Above this you are taking chances with your life. Never seen waves that big in a boat on freshwater ever. Me and the other boat moved from Silver Lake marina to Farris branch at 6pm, and it was flat out big boy water.. His 20ft boat just worked thru them nose up, never got wet. I finessed my 18ft boat thru them and hugged the bank, and semi protected areas.. Was a molment I will not forget.. Got video, doesn't do the waves justice but is a sight to see. Swells inside the marina is something I have not seen before.

Every spring I consider going back to a center console because of the wind. 20+ wasn't even a second thought when I had a good v hull center console. In my bass boat anything over 15 is out if I'm fun fishing. The bass boat won't sink but it sure beats the hell out of you in anything 15-20mph. If I'm getting ready for a tournament I just go and figure it out pretty much regardless of the wind. It's still mind blowing to me that really nobody makes a hybrid type boat with a true v hull and a bass boat style deck layout. Still seems to me that would be the perfect boat for these big Texas lakes.

What wind?
I'm fortunate to live in E. Tx and have a couple of dozen lakes within an hours drive. I can always find something to fish.
