Has the deadline been extended in Texas? If so, when is it now due? Think I read that it was due to the ice storm, but I have not seen anything since.

The tax firm I use said that for Texas we have until June 15th due to the weather in February. Everyone else has until May 15th.

My CPA said June 15 unless you owe. You can wait to file but will be hit with a penalty and interest. I'm getting my done by April 15 because I'm going to owe.

Interesting. The notice I received said June 15th for all filings and payments. I'll double-check when I get to office & see if this has changed.

"Individual taxpayers will automatically avoid interest and penalties on the taxes paid by May 17."

I think things have changed since I talked with her.

This is the news release I received. It gives all Texas filers until June 15th to file AND PAY anything that was due after Feb 26th. This also includes an extension for making 2020 IRA contributions until June 15th.

I have to file a non-resident return in Arkansas this year so I presume my effective deadline is May 17 since the info from the federal return is part of the Arkansas package.
