So how far up the Guadalupe river will the white bass go during the spawning run? I'm not asking for specific sites or anyone's fishing holes, just a general idea on how far one can expect to find them. For example, do they make it as far up as the state park, or stay closer to Canyon lake?

I have never fished it for whites, but I've ran the Upper Guad a bunch in a kayak just for fun. I've gone from way above the state park all the way down to the Rebecca Creek crossing. It's a long way from the lake to the state park. I'd guess it's at least 60 miles by river, and it might be closer to 80. Will whites travel that far upriver?

Usually start trolling for them about a half mile up river! Shad Raps work well. thumb

Anywhere from the mouth of the river where it empties in to Canyon, but no further upriver than Rebecca Creek boat ramp #11.

They'll go up as far to that point where there is good current and small gravel

Run boxes up at Upstream from br 11 at the last upstream very long fast rapids, where boats can't go any further because of shallowness or current speed. In years with good rains a few whites can go above that point, and get trapped becoming permanent river residents upriver. In good rains years, the run will be strong and at the peak, I've counted over 200 boats shoulder to shoulder in the box area, all catching, when they don't tangle lines, -so it's not a secret. That frenzy hasn't happened for awhile because of the extended droughts, and the run may not go upriver by much, or be very weak in the river part. I was up there in area one day early February 2021, no run, anybody else had any luck?
