I don't even know where to begin! What an incredible week in Grenada, MS. Headed over Monday morning with little man since he was on spring break and we hit the lake a couple days before the Crappie Masters tourney on Friday and Sat. Fishing was pretty tough for me as the fish were real spooky and would not respond to casting to them. As big as my boat is it was hard to sneak up on them so I actually went and bought a 16' rod Wed eve and used it the rest of the trip! Prefishing I caught several 2-2.5 pound fish but nothing good for Grenada! I did lose a 3 plus fish trying to boat flip it while little man was asleep on the floor on top of the net! Hook just tore out as she was coming out the water. They just lay there on the surface for a while so you get a good look at em heartbroken! bang

He caught several 2 pounders the last day but his 3 pounder eluded him. Mom and dad met me in Vicksburg Thursday afternoon and I made it back just in time to eat steaks with Terry Stewart and his family and several other competitors before competition began Friday morning. Clay had caught 2 over 3 pounds prefishing and we settled on the mouth of a ditch leading back to a spawning area to start out on Friday morning. You had to hold a bait on these fishes nose for 15-20 seconds sometimes before they would acknowledge it. Sometimes nosing up 2-3 times only to swim off! These fish get hammered every day you can get a boat on the lake and they have PHD's! We had best luck chasing down roaming fish and pushing a bait past them to get them to react. The lake is full of carp and it took several days to distinguish between a large crappie and a carp! First day of the tournament was my second day with a 16' rod in my hand and I told clay I wasn't gonna boat flip anything good so be ready with the net! We worked together well on Friday with me leaning out past the Garmin on the front of the boat like a hood ornament on a Rolls Royce! He would steer me to the fish and as I hooked them I would swing the rod towards the back of the boat so he could net them! We had 2 fish over 3 pounds on my scale and one close that I'm sure was 3 plus on a certified scale. We gained nearly a pound and a half on day 1 from what our scale showed and .25 on out big fish which is my new PB at 3.71! Crazy with a 2.99 average on 7 fish we would still be in 5th place after day 1!

Day 2 we figured our ditch would reload and it they weren't there they would have pushed back further into the spawning cove and we were able to catch a fish close to 3 in both areas but the rest were just low 2's on my scale. We made a move out to the trees Langdon and I did well in on Thursday and culled a few there but made that move too late! Found out they had opened the gates Sat in anticipation of the expected rains and it pulled those fish out the the timber in the river channel. Still had 17.42 our second best weight ever in a crappie tournament. Finished up with an 18th place check and a check for second place big fish! Will be seeing you again in May Grenada! And every March for as long as I can crappie fish! Congrats to Zeke and Dillon on the big win and shattering the CM all time weight record! Unbelievable!! And thanks to all the awesome folks that support us along the way! We couldn't do it without them!

Thanks ya'll! Heck of a trip! Looking forward to going back already! Tx is fishing great right now! I'm booked for March I think but have some weekday availability mid April and have 2 weekend dates avaiable still April 18th and 25th.

Travis brought his brother and dad with me to Pines and they beat down a cooler of slabs in short order! thumb[Linked Image]

Great story. Enjoyed watching your weights as the days went by. Congrats on a well fought fight. Was pulling for you all. One day I will fish that lake. Been trying but things did not work out twice now. One day! Great job and great story! That is a memory that your son will remember!
