Would have paid more than that sitting in the dark freezing.

The Reliant CS rep said perhaps I left something plugged in during the 72hrs I did not have power and maybe that is why I was charged for those days. She said maybe I had a toaster or something plugged in..... roflmao

I understand completely. The $45 is a slap in the face whiskey or no whiskey.

I am confused as to why some folks are giving credit to their power company for them not losing power.

ERCOT told Oncor and Texas New Mexico to cut XXXX amount of power and they did that.

Has nothing to do with your electric company. They did not hook you up nor were they more reliable than another. My whole side of town had no power for 3.5 days straight, we likely have 50 different electric companies represented in that sample. Provider was a non factor.

Please don't muddy the water with factual information, they have a great rant/praise contest going on!

My electric bill dropped about $3 from previous month.

Of course I was without power for 7 of the 33 days in the billing cycle.

Past a certain point you are paying for cool name, cool advertising, and cool people signaling how cool they are for scoring brand X. Then they pour it in Diet Coke.
But anyway my electric bill was the same and I was without power for 3 1/2 days.

Our power company doesn’t charge for the time your electricity is off. So definitely no increases at our house.
