After the big freeze, one of my pine trees turned brown and is losing needles. Is it dead now?

Probably. Once a pine tree does that it's toast. Saw a lot of that up around Rayburn last week.

If you can get a clean cut all the way through the trunk, you can check the rings and tell if it was dead or not.

one of my fears of dying is my neighbors 70 foot tall pine tree that lives about 15 foot
from my bedroom window falling over and crushing me in my sleep.

Seeing a lot of this. Looked at 100 acres just planted and every seedling was brown. We have to wait and see. No history to relate to the blizzard we went through.

Fingers crossed this freeze got my neighbors Sweetgum tree. I never knew I could hate a tree so much.

No fan of sweetgums but at least their slightly better than tallow trees.
