Seems like Dealer is blaming Mfg. { it can be mfg problem}. So it would make logical sense to contact mfg and put on a little heat and see why they can't get a sticker for a new boat and why their dealer is holding your boat hostage. Mfgs look at things differently since they have deeper pockets. Tell mfg you can't get a straight story from dealer and expect to get an answer within 24 to 48 hours before you look for other avenues of satisfaction. Hopefully this gets you a more truthful answer. This country is great at overnight shipping so no reason a sticker can't be had in 24 hours. Gently mention people on the internet are starting to take notice of your problems.
I would be snooping around dealer as others have suggested since your conversations with dealer don't pass the smell test.

IF they were somehow liable or negligent for releasing a boat you just recently purchased from them in regards to some law involving that sticker, they would have shown you some sort of paperwork, website link or something pertaining to their rightful decision to not release that boat. I call BS on them-definitely smells like poop

Reminds me -years ago I bought a brand new truck. I was going to go pick it up-They told me they didn't detail it yet blah blah blah. I was annoyed, they told me I can come get in a couple of days. I was annoyed with their not so speedy recovery answer. I went and got the truck, it looked great-nice and shiny(should be -it was new). When I got home I caught a whiff of toxic paint smell towards the bed/back of the truck. Didn't notice anything as a i glanced over it. When I crawled under the truck to change the first fuel filter(diesel) @30,000 miles (near the back axle), I noticed that the rear drivers side wheel flare was a slightly different mold than the passenger side from the underside. I also noticed that it was indeed painted. At this point, 1 1/2 yrs after I bought it, there wasnt much I could say or prove. Looking back-I bet someonemaybe in the detail dept hit something while moving it???

I got it back today and everything seems to be in order. I know they're just doing what Cabelas is telling them to do so I'm glad I didn't have to pitch a fit to get it. I'll probably want to make sure I have a backup boat before I ever let them do any work on it again though. I'm not going to live forever and 3+ months is a long time to go without. Makes me wish I hadn't sold my old boat, but the mrs will only let me have one motor boat at a time.

Glad to hear it turned out all right for you. That is super slow service. Ya know that is actually the first time I have ever heard of a boat recall.

Well, does it have a different sticker on it? I would check the serial number on the hull and motor and compare them to your paperwork. My guess, they took the boat out and damaged it somehow and it took time to get it repaired or replaced. Seen it many times with cars, so why not boats.

Yeah IDK. The employee def told me it was coming from the state. I know its the same motor because I recognize the skeg damage from when my sisters bf dragged it up a boat ramp without raising the motor. Everything else seems to be in order too. I don't remember what the old sticker said so I can't verify if the sticker on there now is new or old. For all I know they got spooked by those of you from here calling them and released it to me under pressure.

I can only think of two reasons for all the illogical stuff that just happened to you.

A. There was some shady stuff happening.
B. They are bonafide morons.

We bought a new Ranger from there and had nothing but issues with the electronics. When we called back, we were told that there was a waiting list of 4-6 weeks. This was in ‘17. Looks like things haven’t changed. Never again

I have a buddy who is a Mercury and Nissan certified mechanic. At one time he decided to close his shop and go to work for someone else. He got a job offer from Cabelas. After doing some research he turned it down because of some of the things he learned. He is a stand up guy and decided he good not work in that environment.
