 google earth pin placement

Trying to map out a route through timber and I put the cross hair on center point but the thumb pin is a little off. What is the correct way to place the pin so as I don't lose a lower unit? Thanks

Thanks Right click on the icon and select Properties. At the top right is the icon, left click on that and choose another icon that is not pointed. The diamond, circle with dot, square with dot works well.

That being said, then the GPS coordinate is in the center of the "box" and not at the pin point right?

The actual GPS reading is not at the pin, it is at the center of the cross hairs inside the box.
