Hey fellas, new to TFF. Been more of a saltwater fisherman most of my life with the exception of bass fishing in neighborhood lakes growing up and one trip to Lake Fork for the spawn.

My In-laws have a place on Conroe, They aren't fisherman or hunters but I'm slowly introducing my FIL to the outdoor activities I love. Got him his first hog 2 years ago and a doe this year. I've throw every bait I know around the dock and into the cove and couldn't catch a bass, let alone get a bite on any of them. My reputation as the outdoorsman in the family was taking a hit, I got to the point of throwing a cast net, catching some shad and catching a few catfish just to say I caught something there lol...

I had seen and heard the Conroe was a pretty good bass lake but still hadn't caught one. Finally decided to hire a guide (Butch Terpe) this past Saturday, it was worth it! We caught 8 bass from 2 lb to 6 lbs and missed several other bites. 4 blind casting with a chatterbait and swimming a worm. Then we headed up north once the sun came out and pitched to bedded fish. Caught 4 more doing that and ended the half day with the big girl. We spent 30-45 minutes pitching at her. Caught the male within 5 casts, but couldn't get the female to eat. The male was 3.5 LBS and picked up the bait several times after being caught. Butch said your going to have to piss her off and hit her in the face with the weight a few times. She finally inhaled the white crawbug and I yanked her out of the brush. Probably had a 18-19 lbs big 5 fish bag, think that was a pretty good day! Already looking at some bass boats lol the inlaws already said they'd put another slip in on the dock...just need to convince the wife!

Awesome clap

Conroe can be very humbling but the next 2 months should be some good fishing.

Every tournament angler on Conroe will know exactly where you caught the fish in the pictures. Got to be more stealthy.
