A good friend has offered to build me a bait cast rod and I know nothing about the blanks he has access to. MHX, CRB, Phenix, Black Hole and Sage. Anyone know which would be best for bass fishing? I would appreciate all information you can give. Thanks

Pretty sure Sage is fly blanks. Pretty sure most Black hole blanks are geared more toward saltwater. All of those blanks can be found at Mudhole. I think of CRB and MHX as being associated with Mudhole. CRB has a good selection of bass blanks that are less expensive than others. MHX has an extremely wide range of blanks, both in application and graphite quality. Phenix has several lines also, I think K2 is their premium blank. Phenix also sells completed rods with their line of blanks, you can google it.

I have built four in a row on these Immortal blanks. I am very impressed.

MHX Elite series are very nice blanks, I build rods and I have three of them in different actions and powers.
