Hey folks!!! I am based in Helotes now a days and im wondering if I wanted to use my day off to go looking for white bass, where I would have the best chance of finding them. I usually go out around Choke Canyon out towards George West but am wondering if there is anywhere else I should be considering such as around Canyon Lake or around Travis or somewhere else I havent even thought of. I usually give up meat for all of Lent, not just the Fridays and so during this time I am usually blowing through fish fairly quickly and could stand to refill my freezer a bit. Thanks for any advice!!!!

Due to my inexperience I was going to let somebody else take the reins here but since there's not been a reply so far I'll give it a go. As far as location, I've never fished your area so I can't help there, but: I've fished from my kayak in the exact same spots that I was catching left and right at from the bank 2 minutes prior without any luck whatsoever. I think it has a lot to do with the angle your bait is presented at/direction it's moving, at least right now when the fish are in pre-spawn. It seems like lures moving from the middle to the bank get the most attention/bites.

Launch your kayak out of Ramp #11 at Canyon and go upriver.
The lake is pretty low right now so I can't tell you if the ramp is in the water or not, but if you can get into the river start fishing right away and head upstream and fish your way up until you find rapids which shouldn't be too far.
