Docks and rocks. More rocks upriver from 360.
Caution that it will be bird blue skies so that means more pleasure/wakers/skiers.

If I were you I would skip Lake austin, and fish Lake Carolyn (the old Town Lake) . Launch at fiesta gardens and fish the lower end. Or Launch below I-35 bridge and go up to Barton Springs and have fish all to yourself.. No big motor use in Lake Carolyn, trolling motor only. I have seen the largest Bass in my life just sitting out in the open water in fiesta gardens post spawn back in the Day. Lake Austin has some Big girls, but you will have to work. Caught my big one in Lake austin about a 1/4 mile up from the 360 brige on the south side. There is a small flat out in front of a larger dock (Hoa).. If you side scan you will see it, it comes pretty far out and has a good area for some fish to spawn deep. If I had to fish Lake Austin, this is where I would sit... Throw the biggest ugliest worm I had. Most people don't realize how far out this goes. (but they do now, not a big secret) Go about 3am and fish until about 9am. Fish the rocks on the end, and sides. drops off into the channel.

Town lake has so many kayakers on it you can literally walk across them. Atleast lake austin you can crank up and get in a creek or out if the way. There's also decker which will be packed too. Travis starting to heat up as well

There are a couple of spots up river from 360 that we sunk cinderblocks in 15-20ft a couple of years ago. They produce every now and then,
About zebs and clarity......still cloudy because of zero veggies.

The water that flows into Lake Austin from Travis has at least 10 feet visibility so it must be just excessive nutrients from run off into the lake I guess. Along with the constant wave pounding of all the boats. Sure wish those freaking grass carp would totally die off and make this lake a great fishery again.

Don’t want to make a new post so I hope I don’t get crucified for reviving an old thread. With the current water situation in choke seems I need to find a new home, how’s lake Austin? Seems like it’s fairly wide open until you get up lake, but just wanna hear any inputs on navigational hazards.
I’m sure there’s better places to fish, it seems like it could be a fun lake.

Only hazard I'm aware of is boulders just under the surface up river from Quinlan Park to Mansfield Dam. Below pic is from when they used to lower the lake for dock repair and grass killing which they haven't done since 2011 because of drought. Left arrow is Quinlan and the right arrow is boulders that would be just below the surface at normal level. The blowout before the right arrow holds fish and is not a hazard at normal level. Anything towards Mansfield is drive at your own risk.

Where is the best spot to launch onto this lake for first time? Where do most tournaments launch from?
