Went to Nimitz Lake Sunday. It started out foggy and drizzling, water temp at 59.7 turning to light rain late morning but all the while fish were biting well. By mid day the sun had broke out and fishing significantly slowed. Water temps hit mid 60's by the afternoon. Still caught good numbers on just about every lure from Whopper Ploppers to weightless soft plastics but the majority came on Bluegill bling flukes. All in all lots of bass but no size. The largest was probably only 1.5 pounds. I know there are much bigger bass to be caught out of here...I will return soon. Lots of fun and looking forward to the next fishing hole I get to visit. flag

I'm surprised you found Nimitz Lake. When I lived there in '12-'14, there wasn't a sign anywhere indicating that was the name. The signs said "Guadalupe River" or "Kerrville Ponding Lake". The Kerrville powers-that-be don't seem to want any outsiders to come there and upset their little community. IslandJim

We got a ranch just up the road so I've known about Nimitz for a long time. I fish down out of Flatrock Park most of the time but I know Nimitz has bigger fish if you can find em. I've always spent the most time on a stretch of river further down with my sit on top. Some incredible Guadalupe smallmouth on those stretches.
