Same as February 27th. Skunk-o-rama. Started shallow... nothin. Went to mid-depths...nothin but snags. had to get home so I didn't have time to try deep. Haven't had a decent bite since the shad kill. Things will get better. I'm hoping by next weekend we will see some improvement. I saw surface temps above 50 in the shallows so I think with the forecast for warmer weather again this week those blues are gonna get hungry. I got my I Pilot upgrade installed yesterday so I'm gonna have some new tactics to throw at em next week.
I hope some of you did better than I did this weekend. See y'all on the water!

Thatโs fishing Tim. Some days itโs the weather, some days itโs your equipment, and some days itโs the angler. I had all 3 of those problems working agains us Saturday. First problem was the angler. I backed the boat down the ramp and forgot to put the plug in. Bilge started pushing water immediately so I had to hook the boat back up and pull it back up the ramp and put the plug in. Iโve been putting in the boat almost weekly since I was 14 and I still do some dumb $hip. Thatโs usually a sign of what kind of day your about to have. We started deep and worked our way shallow which was a mistake. Only active fish we found were late in the day in 4ft. Should have gone shallow first! Mother Nature had fog so thick you could stir it with a stick. I gotta make long runs on my lake to find fish which is next to impossible in that kind of fog. We puttered around the lake slowly and I got nervous every time we heard a bass boat flying blind through the fog wide open. Iโd give em a few honks on the horn and most would slow down but a few would actually punch it. Im crazy but thatโs just plain stupid! MaNature also had Zero wind and lake was like glass. One thing I noticed was the lake was covered in bird feathers. I canโt ever remember noticing so many dang feathers on the water. I thought that was kind of weird. Lastly was my equipment. Ipilot remote quit communicating with my motor so I had to run it through my helix which doesnโt have a very good interface or controls like the remote. I also kept getting hung up and I broke off 2 planers and 2 long line. Hang ups are gonna happen but 4 break offs in one trip is very rare for me. I chalk it up as a bad day of fishing when things just go wrong every step of the way. We plowed through the adversity and had a good time in spite of crappy fishing.

I think we have all launched the boat without a plug in it. I know I have. And I haven't paid much in the way of tackle tax by way of snag in the last few weeks so it was about time. I continue to be optimistic. Things can only get better from here...

It was a tough weekend for quite a few folks. But I'm sure you heard it was an excellent weekend for some! 400lbs, 10 fish, 2 days... wow. (Not my boat btw ) We finish 2 days with 154lbs on 9 fish, big fish was 54.
