Curious if the guys that have caught these recent big fish, did they go out targeting trophy fish because they heard of other ones being caught in the state or is it weather, moon, livescope? I can not remember the last time so many SALs were caught in short period of time, I know back in the fork glory days it happened.

I think it is some of all of it. Weather patterns factor into this feed fest quite a bit, but I think the beatdown on OHI sure helped though. Motivation for sure.

Water temp cooled down so much making the metabolism slower while making it easier to get these bigger fish to commit instead of swimming away by being spooked. That’s my theory on why so many being caught..... But not all them are caught on Livescope

It's called fishing! Being at the right place at the right time pays off! Not to mention the skill it takes to land such big fish! The anglers who have caught these "GIANTS" have put their time on the water. Some longer than others. Huge Congratulations on the Anglers who have caught these BIG FISH! Side Note: It's a lot of enjoyment reading all of the "BREAKING NEWS" post! Hope they continue the rest of the year!

Recipe theory: 1. Lakes that had been low for six years (six years of below average spawns due to low water levels) came up three years ago and held. New lake phenomenon created a healthy feeding and nutrient situation for growing big bass the last three years 2. Due to lower water levels and lower than average spawns for the previous six years, the bass that were already over 5lbs haven’t had a lot of competition from smaller bass as the lakes rose and nutrients flooded in. 3. Quick drop in water temp stunned the off shore shad and the bass took advantage of the situation and gorged on them. 4. Livescope 5. Networking/sharing info/following the trend

I do think something is going on in Texas right now with big fish. All over the state. I’m hoping it’s a sign that this spring is going to bust out at the seems. As far as Ivie goes. The code was broken with Livescope then it was leading a blind horse to water with all the 6th Sense guys showing up. Can’t say I blame them for all going but I’ve done the Livescope deal for Crappie and it’s basically video game fishing.

The major cold front played a huge role in all the giants your seeing being caught.

Networking/sharing info/following the trend 1. & 2. have really been in play for Choke recently and Medina when it came up a few years back. Everyone thought Medina was a dead sea at 90 ft low but when the water came back up the big fish showed themselves. It's a relatively small lake but held the state record for many years. Many 10lb+ fish were caught in the first couple of years after the water came up. I got in on the action myself with a 10lber.

Well the giant from Conroe and Travis were just timing. All but 1 on Ivie was caught from 3 boats I believe. So it's not like everyone just rushed out there and started catching them.

^^^^agree
If you can see your target move toward the lure; it’s hunting.
One of the reasons I’ve always enjoyed fishing more is the mystery and the magic of not seeing the fish under the water (another reason I don’t prefer sight fishing the spawn)

We always have a few 13+ caught here and there. It's the Ivie guys whacking so many that makes this year seem like there has been a giant fish explosion. In reality the rest of us are catching about as many as usual.
