Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday were good days, lot of limits were caught. This morning was slow so J-Moe reported to me as he started out slow, it may have picked for him later in the day, he hasn't informed me as of yet. But yeah, it has been good for three days. Big females and males, anywhere from 12 to 16 inch fish. In two days I have brought home 48 fish for the freezer. I have to keep fish this year because I only had three packs left in the freezer, so time to restock my freezer. I need to go catch a few more limits if I really want a stock up good. You never know from year to year on how it will be, so when the pickings are good you got go get em.

I've never been able to catch fish at this location. But congrats to those that can.

It is kind a hard. You almost have to wade the river in order to have better bank to fish from plus you can get away from everyone. How ever I have yet to wade it but I am thinking about it today. The wind yesterday kept blowing my line as I was fishing from a bluff about 7 feet from the water. Therefore I had huge loops in my line, so I decided to call it the day. With the wind the way it is today I will be forced to wade to other side if I plan to do any good at all. I am bout to drive over there and see how it is.

At least you agree it's difficult. I'm convinced I need to do one of two things to be successful at this location. One, switch to live bait or two, learn to fly fish. Since I have no interest in using live bait I guess I need to learn to catch them on the fly. Until I do, I'm done with this place. It's too long a drive to catch one or two fish every trip.

Thx 4 report and info, mucho appreciate Planning on leaving house around 9am, go to boat-slip on LTM to grab a few poles, my 1/4" mesh cast-net, and minnow-bucket. And hopefully, catch a few or more doz. Spot-tail minnows. Then be at steps, around noon...And have my limit by dusk

I fished for a few hours on Sunday. Lot of people and not many who had what they wanted including myself. However there were a few who did and they were doing great. The fish were there, but it took a certain bait to get them to hit it. I tried different baits and colors, but still couldn't find what they wanted or how they wanted it. Two guys with fly rods had them figured out and they tore em up. I saw a few guys fishing in the current that were fow hooking fish in the dorsal fin right and left. They were not trying to snag these fish but sure were doing a fine job in doing so. In the few hours I fished I did manage to catch 12 fish in all, it was slow so I released the fish, I wasn't going to haul a stringer up and down the river bank. I did a lot of moving around trying to locate decent bite, but it was one here and two over there type day for me. Never could get them dialed in, so I left a little early while it was still light out. The fish are there, finding a hot spot or what they will hit can be another thing though. Guess that's why they call it fishing, some days you figure it out and other days your fishing for a bite. The 12 I caught were nice size fish. I kind a wish I had kept them, it all adds up in the end. It would have been two more bags of fish in the freezer.

Talked to guy that fished on Monday. He said he could see the fish but couldn't get them to bite. He moved on to a deeper hole and found a honey hole. With in a few hours he released 30 plus fish, he was out fun fishing and shooting a video. If you look up (red beard texas outdoors) fishing on you tube you can watch his videos that he has out for this year. Not sure when he will post yesterday's trip but probably soon.

Pulled another limit out this morning at the steps. It was so much fun that I stayed for an extra hour just hauling them in one right after another. I also took some pliers and flatten the barb on my hook so I could get them off quicker. I mean it felt like I was catching them on every cast. When it's hot, it's hot, so I had to stay and have some fun just doing the catch and release thing. I sure do enjoy this type of fishing. Going back in the morning in hope I can haul another limit out. One day they are on and the next can be dead, do I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.
